Fitzgerald Physical Therapy

Boston City FC has partnered with Fitzgerald Physical Therapy Associates, agreeing a multi-year deal to benefit the club’s players and help them remain injury-free throughout the season.

As the National Premier Soccer League club’s preferred physical therapy provider, the Melrose and Woburn-based staff of specialists will provide care to treat a variety of conditions.

“I play soccer myself, so I understand clearly the mechanics and the particular needs of players when treating injuries that are specific to their sport,” said Holly Fitzgerald, who started the family-run business with her husband Sean, a Watertown firefighter.  “We are delighted to partner with Boston City and look forward to playing our part in their success this season.”

Holly is a 1997 graduate from Ithaca College with her BS in Clinical Science and her MS in Physical Therapy.  Recently she completed her Doctorate in Physical Therapy through Northeastern University.  While at Ithaca she was a member of both the soccer and lacrosse teams.  Professionally she has practiced in outpatient Orthopedics for 19 years and is a Board Certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist (OCS) through the American Physical Therapy Association.

Fitzgerald Physical Therapy Associates has a staff that will develop an effective, evidence-based treatment plan tailored to meet each player’s individual needs.  They will liaise with Boston City’s athletic trainer and strength and conditioning coaches, overseen by Alexandra Blenis, to ensure continuity in treatment.

In addition to treating Lions players, Fitzgerald Physical Therapy Associates will feature on the Boston City FC website in a series of injury prevention videos aimed at adult and youth soccer players and will have an in-stadium presence at home matches.  As part of the alliance, they will help educate youth coaches in town soccer programs that are partnered with Boston City to address injury prevention.
