Two stars of Boston City’s 2017 National Premier Soccer League campaign have been recognized with league all-star honors.

Free-scoring midfielder Isaac Nana Addai and attacking right back Michael Rincon have both been named to the NPSL Northeast Region Best XI.  Votes were cast by the 24 member clubs in the four-divisions, which stretch along the east coast from Maine to Virginia.

Lions top scorer Addai found the net 12 times in the NPSL and led the team with 7 assists, attracting the interest of several clubs.  He joined Ferroviara of the Brazilian Campeonato Paulista first division on loan in July.

Addai won one NPSL National Player of the Week award and was twice named to the Football Manager NPSL Team of the Week this season.  In 2016, he won both the NPSL Golden Ball (player of the season) and NPSL Golden Boot (top scorer) awards, scoring 18 goals in only 15 matches.  He signed for Boston City from the Rhode Island Reds during the offseason.

Local product Rincon, who played at Malden High School, was converted from an attacking midfield role to make the right back spot his own.

He was named to the Football Manager NPSL Team of the Week on June 2 having scored in a 6-1 win over Seacoast United Mariners.  He scored three goals and had two assists having joined Boston City just prior to season kickoff after attending the February open tryouts.

He scored in the playoff clash with Hartford City and scored both home and away against Seacoast United Mariners.  Rincon was third on the team with 960 minutes played.

“Nana and Michael both had a fantastic season for us and were determined from the first moment we began training, long before the season kicked off, to make an impact and to be successful,” said Boston City FC coach Palhinha.  “Nana was marked by two opponents in most matches because he was such a threat, while Michael broke up attacks and was solid defensively and added speed and width to our attack.  They both thoroughly deserve this honor.”The National Premier Soccer League will announce the 2017 National Best XI and additional second through fourth all-league teams on Tuesday, August 8 and will crown the Mitre Golden Ball Winner – a title won last season by Addai – on Friday, August 11.
