After two seasons of playing competitively in the National Premier Soccer League and in 2017 the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, Boston City FC breaks down some of the stats from the past two years.

The Lions have played 32 competitive matches: 28 NPSL regular season, 2 NPSL playoffs, 2 U.S. Open Cup, with an all-time record of 17 wins, 5 draws and 10 losses.

A total of 67 Boston City goals have been scored with 54 coming in the NPSL regular season, 5 in the NPSL playoffs (including penalty shootout goals) and 8 in the U.S. Open Cup (also including penalty shootout goals).

The 50th goal in club history was scored by Isaac Nana Addai with the first goal of his hat-trick in a 3-1 victory over Hartford City at home on Sunday, June 4, 2017.  Yaw Addow scored the first-ever goal in a 3-1 loss to New York Cosmos B in the Lions’ inaugural match on May 1, 2016 and he also claimed the first away goal in a 2-1 win at Seacoast United Mariners.  Gabriel De Souza scored the first goal in a Lions win, a 1-0 victory over Seacoast United Phantoms.

Isaac Nana Addai is Boston City’s all-time leading scorer with 13 goals, followed by Jhonata Batista and Homero Morais, who have each found the net 9 times.  The next leading scorers are Michael Bustamante (6) and Kevin Herrera (4).

Addai also leads the club in assists with 7, trailed by Batista and Herrera, who have 5 each, and Bustamante with 4.

When it comes to appearances, defender Marcelo Cunha leads the way with 2,587 minutes in all competitions over two seasons.  He played in every match in 2017 and only missed one match in 2016, which was due to suspension from a red card shown after the final whistle.

Attacking midfielder Homero Morais is second in minutes played with 2,213, while other members of the 2000-club are defender Gabriel De Souza (2,077 minutes) and captain Ronaldo Vieira (2,019).  Keeper Vitor Scariot is knocking on the door, having played 1,911 minutes.

During two seasons, the 32 competitive matches have featured a total of 52 players.  Four players who started the first-ever match in Boston City FC history, against the New York Cosmos B, also faced Cosmos B in the opening match of the 2017 season: captain Rolando Vieira, defender Gabriel De Souza, midfielder Homero Morais and forward Jhonata Batista.  Two other players – striker Yaw Addow and defender Marcelo Cunha - played in both matches but did not start both.

There was only one ever-present player in 2016 – midfielder Michael Bustamante - though in the NPSL in 2017, four players appeared in every match.

Isaac Nana Addai started every match for a total of 1,136 minutes, as did Marcelo Cunha who played 1,128 minutes.  Both also clocked 210 minutes in the U.S. Open Cup, playing 90 minutes twice and a 30-minute period of extra time.

NPSL Regional XI selection, right back Michael Rincon, played in all 13 matches in 2017, totaling 960 minutes, originally featuring on the right side of midfield.  Italian midfielder Luca Tarable (386 minutes) played in every NPSL regular season match in 2017 before being forced to miss the playoff loss to Hartford City while traveling to London as part of his Masters degree university course.

Three players earned NPSL All-team honors in 2017, joining three who were recognized in 2016.  All-NPSL First Team: M Isaac Nana Addai (2017), D Gabriel De Souza (2016), M Michael Bustamante (2016); All-NPSL Second Team: G Vitor Scariot (2016); All-NPSL Third Team: D Paulo Henrique (2017); All-Regional Northeast XI: D Michael Rincon (2017).
