Boston City FC will officially launch its Brazilian sister club on Monday, October 2, at an exclusive event in Manhuaçu in the state of Minas Gerais.

Owner Renato Valentim will welcome 500 guests to a cocktail party to celebrate the opening of Boston City FC Brasil.  The Mayor of Manhuaçu, Cici Magalhaes, will attend along with several dignitaries from throughout the region and from Brazilian soccer, to add their support to the project.Valentim, who is a partner at the many popular New England-area Tavern In The Square restaurants and is a successful real estate developer, said: “We are celebrating opening a facility that young local soccer players can only dream about.  Boston City FC began with a strong vision to expand and create opportunities for young players and we are excited to take the first steps in Brazil to meet our objectives."

Boston City has strong links to Brazil.  The club’s President, Founder and Head Coach Palhinha was a celebrated player with Sao Paulo and Cruzeiro and the famed Brazilian national team.  He won two prestigious Copa Libertadores titles and two Club World Cup championships during his career.

Boston City Brasil will build from the ground up, having already selected players between the ages of 13 and 18 from more than 1,000 applicants to enter the academy.  Under Thomas Paschoarelli, who has served as Technical Director for the Boston-based club for two years and completed his Masters Program at the MPB School of Coaches in Barcelona, the first group of players will now begin a rigorous training and development program under the Boston City FC Brasil banner.

“Our project here in Brazil is growing every day and we are starting to shape our youth teams,” said Paschoarelli.  “We are all very excited at the speed that things are moving here and with the great reception we have from everyone in the city of Manhuaçu.”

Youth players at Boston City FC Brasil will be developed by Football Manager Paschoarelli, Ademir (Youth Team Head Coach), Paulão (Youth Team Head Coach), Castilho (Goalkeeper Coach), Danilo (Physical Trainer) and Jaime (Masseur).

Boston City completed its second 2017 National Premier Soccer League Season in July, again progressing to the playoffs, while also competing in the U.S. Open Cup.  The club’s 2018 campaign will kick off in the spring of 2018.
