Boston City FC will field an Under 20 team in the Bay State Soccer League (BSSL) when the new season kicks off this spring.

Based in Boston, the BSSL is a premier adult amateur league with 40 teams in four divisions. The league is governed by the Massachusetts Adult State Soccer Association and affiliated with the United States Soccer Federation.

“When I attended a recent BSSL meeting, I could see how very well organized the league is and how passionate about our sport the team representatives are,” said Boston City FC Managing Director Craig Tornberg.  “Becoming part of the BSSL will create even more opportunities for local players who aspire to play for our first team or even our sister club Boston City FC Brasil in Manhuaçu.”

Boston City FC Under 20s will play home matches at Daly Field in Brighton, MA, led by head coach Cesar Deossa, who played professionally in his native Medellin, Colombia, having come through the youth ranks of Colombian powerhouse Atletico Nacional.  Dedicated tryouts for the Under 20 BSSL team will be announced soon through the Lions’ website and social media platforms.

Deossa helped the Rhode Island Oceaneers finish second in the American Soccer League Northeast Conference and reach the playoff semifinals as an assistant coach.  He has been involved with many local organizations at the youth level including Valeo FC and has donated countless hours in coaching at the Boys & Girls Club of Watertown.

“I believe in helping players develop their skills, knowledge of the game and passion for the sport,” said Deossa.  “I believe this helps them fully reach their potential so that they may take advantage of the opportunities that soccer presents to them.”

Deossa will report directly to Boston City FC President and Head Coach Palhinha, the former star of Sao Paulo, Cruzeiro and the Brazil national team.  He will also assist Palhinha with first team training for the club’s National Premier Soccer League team.
