Countdown To Kickoff: Do You Remember The Last Time?

Boston City and Hartford City clash again this Saturday, April 27, at the University of Hartford (kickoff 7pm) to open the 2019 National Premier Soccer League season in what has become a spicy cross-state rivalry.

The last time the Lions and Colts met, Boston City FC was seeking a first win in five matches against a previously unbeaten Hartford City, so needed to drastically upset the form book and the noisy band of traveling Agents of Hale fan group… and that’s precisely what happened.

There weren’t many highlights last season, but among the bright moments were this 2-0 victory – coming after a six-goal reverse against the Brooklyn Italians – and the debut of goalkeeper Jake Wagmeister, who still hold the starting spot between the posts.

Rigoberto Jimenez, playing in his preferred wide position up front, was rewarded for five games of persistence with his first goal of the season to earn the hosts a lead just 58 seconds into the second half, giving the home Ironsides Crew fans reason to drown out their visiting counterparts.  Isaac Nana Addai settled the rivalry clash with eleven minutes remaining after a nervous spell when the Colts threatened to equalize but suffered from some poor finishing when clear chances were presented in front of goal.

But why take our word for it when there are some great highlights in this video to bring back those memories.
