Double Header Chance To Bounce Back Following Brooklyn Defeat

Coming off two heavy away defeats and a draw, Boston City FC (0-3-2) remain on the road this Friday then return home to Harry Della Russo Stadium in Revere this Sunday, May 26, as part of a double header against Greater Lowell Rough Diamonds (0-1-1), kickoff 6pm.

The Lions found a spark and a brief highlight up front in Brooklyn on Saturday when substitute John Dumbuya came off the bench to score his team’s goal in 5-1 loss to the Italians.  The Sierra Leone native is in line to face his former club in Lowell on Friday night at 8pm alongside another player who played for the Diamonds last season, Jhonata Batista.

Brazilian Batista closed in on becoming the club’s all-time top scorer with a strike against New York Athletic Club, his 13 career goals trailing Isaac Addai by only four.

Dumbuya was not available for selection before last weekend as he awaited international clearance having played in the French professional leagues last year.

Tickets for Sunday’s home match are available at https://www.bostoncityfc.com/product/season-tickets/ as Boston City play at home for only the second time this season, looking to climb up the NPSL North Atlantic Conference standings.

The club’s Bay State Soccer League club, Boston City FC II, recorded a sixth straight victory on Saturday over second placed Worcester County FC to open a three-point lead at the top of the Division 3 North with BSSL promotion the team’s target.  The young Lions are not in action again until Saturday, June 8, when Leominster FC visit Daly Field in Brighton at 12.30pm.
